5 OUT-OF-THE-BOX IDEAS TO GET MOTIVATED
Category Lifestyle
On 8 July 2020 News 24 reported that Health Minister Zweli Mkhize had announced that the COVID-19 storm had arrived. Many have lost friends, family and loved ones. The impact of the pandemic has not only affected people's livelihoods but many are now dealing with the loss of loved ones. Much has been written about the importance of wearing masks and social distancing confirmed by scientific evidence, therefore play it safe and continue with the protocols required by government for self-protection and to slow the spread of the disease.
More students have returned to school and are feeling the stresses of being back in the school environment after the long time spent at home. Sit-down restaurants, conference centres, hairdressers, estate agents and many other businesses may operate subject to strict guidelines but are finding the situation challenging.
The current circumstances are stressful and concerning on several levels but here are 5 out-of-the-box ideas to get motivated.
- Dress up for dinner at home.
Set the dinner table with the best of everything from the finest dinnerware to the best wine glasses. Open the champagne and wine that has been kept for a special occasion. Make an out-of-the-ordinary dinner with all the trimmings to treat the family. Remember to send out invitations to the family specifying dress code with time and date of the dinner. Make it a memorable experience. It is sure to perk up the families' mood.
- Compliment and encourage a stranger on social media.
People are quick to pass unkind comments but how many are willing to share positive and motivating messages with others. Encouraging others is rewarding to both parties.
- Brighten up the bedroom.
Make it super comfortable and particularly with this cold winter (one of the coldest in Gauteng in many years), add lots of pillows, cushions and blankets to make it a pleasure to spend time in the room.
- Grow something: be it a flower, mint, rosemary, a vegetable or the like.
It is very rewarding to watch a plant germinate and grow. Not everyone has green fingers but it is worth trying.
- Attempt craftwork.
Consider knitting a scarf for a loved one, quilting, woodwork, needlework, painting or scrapbooking. Some are more talented than others and may not be able to turn a hobby into a small business but the joy of making something by hand is rewarding. Read up on the internet and begin crafting.
Now go out and conquer the world (but - REMEMBER THE FACE MASK).
