Clearance Certificates
According to a recent notification received from the Ward Councilor (Region 6), the financial department at City of Tshwane dealing with clearance certificates as well as the town planning department have opened after the lockdown closures.
In order to sell a property it is a requirement to obtain a clearance certificate from the municipality. Under current Level 3 lockdown regulations, although estate agents may operate, if the municipal department dealing with clearance certificates is regularly closed dueto Covid decontamination, it will result in delays in the registration of properties. At this stage it is unclear when this important service will be fully operational without major delays. It is also noted that the town planning department has finally opened on 09 July and the lengthy closure has impacted the approval of plans as well as inspections by the City's building inspectors.
Rates and Taxes Payment Relief
During the last few months, most of the financial institutions have assisted customers with financial relief and payment holidays on home loans and other debt. The City of Tshwane has now come on board to assist ratepayers for the period June to December 2020. A notice in this regard was recently released by Tshwane and all the required information as well as the different payment plans can be found on the City of Tshwane's website. The ratepayer will need to complete the applicable documentation, choose which option would be best suited, sign and submit the form. It is good to know that the City is trying to assist ratepayers with payment relief.
