Home interior design trends for 2023.

Category Interior Design

Home design trends and style changes based on our experiences as a collective. While 2020-22 encompasses the concept of tenacity and willingness to overcome adversity, the trends that reflect the years going forward will consider the constant flux and life changes we may experience. But beyond this, the goal is to create a home interior that encourages looking forward to what's new and exciting each passing day.

For 2023, let's explore the home design trends which will likely dominate the property scene.

Wellness is in

After a period of untold strife and economic uncertainty, it's no surprise that personal wellness and self-improvement have taken centre stage. Self-care is one of the hallmarks of improving one's well-being, and the space one surrounds themselves with.

Wellness home design encourages the concept of healthy living. The desire to create an environment which helps to facilitate this and make a difference in how we tackle our daily struggles. Wellness extends beyond our battles and reaches out toward the style and design of architecture, finishings, and furnishings to motivate and inspire us every day.

Art Deco is sublime

Art Deco encompasses a blend of materials, architecture, and home design. It embellishes upon old designs and styles we used to adore and plays into our sense of nostalgia. Home interior design is moving away from minimalism and clinical spaces and instead focuses on the complete inverse of maximalism.

Art Deco is all about detail and saturation. Those ornate pieces and intricate finishes take centre stage while bright, exuberant colours, geometric shapes, and patterns form complete home symmetry.

A twist on home office spaces

Work from home, accelerated by the pandemic, has become a new norm and thus reflects the greater relevance of owning property. The workplace has been redefined to include elements that make us feel more comfortable and productive. A highly individualistic home design is encouraged.

Whether it be the furniture one uses or the layout of the home workspace to maximise personal productivity, one needs to set up a home interior that meets your needs.

Multifunctional rooms

Open plan and multi-purpose spaces within the home design are not new concepts. For 2023, the idea is to enhance and redefine these home interior spaces. Rather than adhering to basic structures and purposes, 2023 design trends encourage a bespoke and individualistic approach to entertainment and exercise.

This is an effort to bridge the gap between years of isolation and rekindling connections within the home. As such, the desire for personal gyms, entertainment luxe movie rooms and game rooms is likely to rise as we focus on making the home the centre of our social well-being.

Natural lighting to brighten home interiors

The focus on biophilic elements within the home and office is scientifically proven to boost morale and productivity. The more we understand the benefits of allowing natural elements into our homes, the better we see our functionality increase. One of the more prominent design trends to look out for in 2023 is the maximisation of natural lighting.

Expect a resurgence of reflective surfaces, the subtle use of white textures and paints, and the influx of large, bare windows.

Adding value to your home interior

Fleeting trends may devalue your home, but others may increase your value depending on what's in and what isn't. It's not always about modernisation. Sometimes design encompasses an amalgamation between classic and contemporary. See more about combing the two here.
